Flexiteek - the Patented Environmental Teak Deck Alternative

Flexiteek is the original synthetic and environmental marine decking system with a surprising similarity to teak. Made of modern composite materials, Flexiteek is low maintenance giving aesthetics and anti skid performance to your yacht deck. Flexiteek is an international registered trade mark with global patents, Norwegian owned with manufacturing at our subsidiaries in Sweden, USA, and Australia and at many of our key global distributor sites.

Product Overview

Flexiteek is by far the most practical alternative to high quality teak decking. After considerable testing in tropical and European conditions, Flexiteek continues to clean easily and look like a newly laid teak deck. Its non–slip quality is superb and nobody yet on first viewing or touching think it is anything other than real teak. The deck will not go grey, dry out or split or crack and requires minimal maintenance.

Flexiteek is sandable with individual graining. The result is natural looking and the feel is realistic. The deck is extremely stain proof and is easily washed, even with a powerwash. For important material properties,

The vendor guarantees to the purchaser the Flexiteek material for the first 5 (five) years from the date of purchase (changed from 3 years for material sold after November 22nd 2007). During the guarantee period the product will be free from defects in material and workmanship and will not split, crack, peel or rot. This vendor liability covers only material changes which arise under the working conditions assumed in the contract, and that the material has not been exposed to aggresive chemicals, acid washes or extreme heat. Any guarantee related to the installation of Flexiteek will be carried by the installer and is not part of the material guarantee.

Testing & Maintenance

Flexiteek is by far the most practical and convincing alternative to high quality teak decking.

Testing
Flexiteek has been through extensive testing to document all important material properties as well as qualities relevant to the demanding customer. We have proof of high wear resistance, solid welding seam strength, water tightness, excellent surface friction and good sound insulation properties. These properties have been confirmed by SP Swedish National Testing and Research Institute, see PDF-file.

The Flexiteek decking has also passed the following tests:
- Non-slip qualities are unsurpassed - [Tested to ASTM D 4518-91]
- Low combustibility - [Flammability testing to AS/NZ 53837]
- UV resistant - [Tested to ASTM G 154-00]

Maintenance
With new Flexiteek decking we recommend the yard /shipowner to add two coats of sealer the first year. The sealer can be ordered with the Flexiteek decking material.

Cleaning on a regular basis is best done using mild detergents like "Yes" and a power wash, see information (PDF).

Under no circumstances should teak cleaning chemicals, teak oil or wax be applied to the deck.

Marks or scratches can be easily removed using fine sanding along the "grain".
